Refreshing and with an intense aroma, mint leaves are used in the kitchen to add flavour to all kinds of dishes: savoury sauces, soups and creams, meat and fish. But above all, it is used in desserts and drinks: ice cream, sorbets, ice lollies, slushies, cocktails and liqueurs.
With its thirst-quenching and digestive abilities, mint is composed mainly of water, fibre, ash, protein and carbohydrates, and has a good concentration of minerals such as potassium, copper, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and sodium. Hippocrates used it as an aphrodisiac, while the Greeks and Romans used it as a perfume.
