LIMA BEANS

Also commonly known as the “butter bean”, historical findings date their use back to 6000 BC in Peru.

Known as one of the main ingredients in chilli con carne, Lima beans are highly prized for their very tasty flavour that lends itself to a variety of preparations. They go very well with fish and white meat, and their creamy texture makes them perfect for creams and sauces.

Cholesterol-free and rich in protein, they are a balanced food and an excellent source of vitamins such as E, PP, K, J and B, as well as minerals such as calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc and selenium.

In particular, potassium gives it natural diuretic properties.
