RED BEANS

Small and red in colour, red beans have a sweetish taste. Known as one of the main ingredients in the Tex-Mex tradition of chilli con carne, they can be cooked like any other type of bean. Very tasty in salads, where they also provide a lively and colourful touch, they are indispensable for the national dish of the Antilles: a ragout of red beans, tomatoes, chillies and chopped octopus.

Easily digestible, red beans are a valuable ally for a healthy body. They contain minerals and trace elements such as potassium, zinc, iron and molybdenum.

They are an excellent source of vitamin B, fibre and protein, are low in fat and contain isoflavones, which keep our immune system, bones and brain healthy.

They also have purifying and diuretic properties. The presence of iron makes them a valuable ally for those suffering from anaemia and for those following a vegetarian or vegan diet.
