With its strong flavour and unmistakable aroma, green celery is mainly used as a flavouring agent. Essential for the preparation of broth or some typical dishes such as mixed boiled meats, it is also very useful for adding flavour to other foods such as salads, soups and stews.
A non-caloric food (16 calories per 100 g of product), green celery is very rich in water, which makes it an excellent diuretic that can prevent kidney stones, as well as a good depurative. It also contains non-soluble fibre, a set of properties that make it suitable for use in slimming diets and to combat bad cholesterol.
Rich in vitamin C and vitamin A, it helps the immune system, the well-being of mucous membranes, skin and eyesight and is a strong antioxidant. Green celery also contains a good amount of potassium, calcium and magnesium.
