SHITAKE MUSHROOM

Originating in the Far East and found in ancient China even before rice cultivation was developed, the shiitake mushroom is ideal for enriching soups, but can also be eaten on its own as a side dish, grilled or baked to accompany meat or fish. The shitake mushroom has extraordinary nutritional qualities. It is rich in protein, helps to keep cholesterol levels low and stimulates the immune system.
Curiosity: during the Ming dynasty, it was referred to as the “elixir of life”.
